Firelighters

No kit is complete without them. Our firelighters burn with a long, steady flame — enough for pine kindling to catch under a bag of bloekom, or for a chimney starter of lump charcoal to get going while you sort the meat.

One block under a handful of kindling is usually the whole job; two on a wet night. Keep a box at the braai and one at the fireplace, because running out is always discovered at the worst possible moment.

They travel with any wood or charcoal order for one flat delivery fee per route from R200 across greater Cape Town, the Winelands and the West Coast, typically within 1–2 business days. At R30 a box, there’s no reason to ration them.
