Delivery to Plattekloof & Panorama

The Firewood Company delivers kaggelhout, braai wood, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to Plattekloof, Panorama, Parow North and Welgelegen for R200 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–2 business days, with Saturdays on request, and the driver carries the bags up or down the steps and stacks them as part of the fee. Collection from the factory shop at 35 Tredoux Street, Parow — Monday to Friday 08:00–16:30, Saturday 08:00–12:45 — costs nothing.

Delivery fee: R200 up the hill on any size order — the shortest delivery on our map. No minimum.

Delivery days: Monday to Friday, and Saturdays on request when there is enough demand. This close to the yard, most Plattekloof orders arrive within 1–2 business days; when the June north-wester has the whole ridge ordering at once, allow 2–4. Checkout shows the current turnaround before you pay.

Saturdays: not a fixed run — when enough Northern Suburbs orders line up for a Saturday, the truck goes. Ask on , or come down the hill to the shop on Saturday morning.

Carry-in and stacking: in the fee, steps included. If you want the bags emptied into a wood store, unbagging is R10 a bag at checkout.

Access: the Plattekloof slope means steps — down to a wood store, up to a patio. Count them in the order notes and the driver brings the bags the whole way.

Built for the view, which is also the weather side

Plattekloof sits on the southern slope of the Tygerberg, and the houses were built for the view — glass on the bay side, which is also the weather side. When the north-wester arrives in June the ridge houses along Plattekloof Road feel it first, and a closed-combustion unit fed with dense hardwood is the difference between a living room that holds its heat and one that leaks it through the glass. Panorama and Welgelegen sit lower and flatter, older stock with an open hearth and a braai under the pergola, and Parow North fills the ground between them and our gate. That is the thing about this page: the factory shop at 35 Tredoux Street is a few minutes down the hill. Some Plattekloof customers load a bakkie on a Saturday morning and skip the fee; others would rather we carried it up the steps to the wood store, which is what the R200 buys. Either way the wood was processed two doors from the shop, and this is the shortest trip any bag of ours makes.

What we’d put on the truck for a Plattekloof house: blackwattle for the closed-combustion unit, bloekom for the open hearth down in Panorama, kameeldoring for the braai, and a bag of heat logs for the nights the wind makes a lazy fire hard work.

What Plattekloof & Panorama orders

Kameeldoring 18kg — R120 — dense Namibian hardwood for the braai on the ridge. Burns down to long, even coals and holds them while the wind does what it likes outside.

Blue Gum / Bloekom Seasoned 20kg — R109 — the everyday wood for an open hearth in Panorama or Welgelegen. Steady, easy to light, no surprises.

Namibian Hardwood Eco / Heat Logs 10kg (12 logs) — R115 — compressed hardwood, uniform and low on ash, with no bark mess on the carpet. Built for closed-combustion units.

Plattekloof & Panorama firewood delivery — FAQ

How much is firewood delivery to Plattekloof and Panorama?

R200 flat per drop, the same across Parow North and Welgelegen. Collection from the factory shop at 35 Tredoux Street, Parow is free, and we load it for you.

Can I collect from Parow instead of paying delivery?

Yes, and from Plattekloof it is the obvious option if you have a bakkie or a trailer. The factory shop at 35 Tredoux Street is open Monday to Friday 08:00–16:30 and Saturday 08:00–12:45. The wood is processed at No. 31, two doors down; the shop is No. 35.

Which wood is best for a closed-combustion fireplace on the Plattekloof ridge?

Kameeldoring or the Namibian hardwood mix — dense wood that coals down and holds heat behind the glass. Heat logs are the tidy alternative: uniform, low ash, no bark. Keep bloekom for an open hearth.

Do you deliver to Plattekloof on Saturdays?

On request. The Northern Suburbs route runs Monday to Friday, and Plattekloof is on it. Saturday deliveries are on request when there is enough demand on the day, so ask us on .

Is the wood dry when it comes up the hill?

Yes — it has the shortest trip of any bag we sell. Everything is seasoned and kept under cover at the yard on Tredoux Street until it goes on the truck, so it lights properly and burns hot instead of hissing. That is the Dry Guarantee we have stood behind since 2001: if a bag disappoints, tell us and we make it right. Read the Dry Guarantee.

Do you deliver to the townhouse complexes and estates in Plattekloof?

Yes. Give us the complex name, the unit number and the visitor procedure in the order notes, and the driver books in and carries the bags up or down the steps to the door. There is no minimum, so a couple of bags at a time is fine.

Is Parow North the same fee as Plattekloof?

Yes — Parow North, Welgelegen, Panorama and Plattekloof are all R200, and so is the rest of Parow. If you are close enough to walk to Tredoux Street, collection costs nothing at all. Checkout confirms the fee from your postcode before you pay.

Can you get the bags down to a wood store below the house?

Yes — the Plattekloof slope is part of the job. Put the number of steps and where the store is in the order notes, and the driver carries the bags the whole way and stacks them. A gate code or an unlocked side gate saves a phone call.
