Delivery to Hout Bay & Llandudno

The Firewood Company delivers kaggelhout, braai wood, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to Hout Bay, the valley smallholdings and Llandudno for R350 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–2 business days, and the driver carries the bags to the barn or down the Llandudno steps and stacks them — that is in the fee.

Delivery fee: R350 on any size order, no minimum. Hout Bay and Llandudno are postcode 7806 — the same zone as Constantia, and R145 under the far end of the peninsula.

Delivery days: Monday to Friday. Most Hout Bay orders arrive within 1–2 business days; in the wettest weeks of winter, or when Chapman’s Peak is shut and the truck comes round the Nek, allow 2–4. Checkout shows the current turnaround before you pay.

Cut-off: Thursday 15:00 for Friday’s South Peninsula run. After that, a gap on the Friday truck is worth a , not worth planning around.

Carry-in and stacking: in the fee, gravel drive or granite steps. If you want the bags emptied into the wood store, unbagging is R10 a bag at checkout.

Loose loads: all year, delivered and offloaded where you say — sold as-is for buyers with covered storage, and no Dry Guarantee. Prices below.

Access: the truck comes in over Constantia Nek or round Chapman’s Peak. For the address itself, tell us whether the drive is gravel, whether a truck can turn at the top, and how many steps there are between where we stop and where the wood goes. Llandudno is nearly all steps.

A valley with one mouth to the sea

Hout Bay is a valley with one mouth to the sea, and it keeps its weather. Mist comes off the Sentinel and sits over the harbour into the morning, the ground under the trees along Hout Bay Main Road stays wet a week after the rain stopped, and a stack left in the open here will not be worth much by August. Up the valley the plots get bigger — paddocks and stables, a hedge where other suburbs have a wall, a wood store in a barn rather than a cupboard. Llandudno is the other extreme: houses stepped down the granite towards the beach off Victoria Road, parking above the front door and a flight of stairs between the two. Between them sits the harbour, and the kitchens along it cooking over coals most nights of the year.

What we’d put on the truck for a Hout Bay house: eight bloekom for the hearth, two Chunky for the fire pit, a bag of Potjie kindling — and from October, a loose load into the barn.

What Hout Bay & Llandudno orders

Blue Gum / Bloekom Seasoned 20kg — R109 — the everyday kaggelhout. Seasoned and stored under cover, so it lights first time in a house where the air never quite dries out.

Namibian Hardwood Chunky 18kg — R135 — extra-large pieces for an outdoor fire on a big plot. Fewer pieces on the fire, fewer walks back to the wood store in the dark.

Loose Blue Gum or Loose Blackwattle — 250 to 3,000 pieces — R550 for 250, R2,000 for 1,000 — all year, offloaded where you say. Sold as-is for buyers with covered storage; the Dry Guarantee does not cover it. Buy in summer, stack in the barn, burn next winter.

Hout Bay & Llandudno firewood delivery — FAQ

How much is firewood delivery to Hout Bay and Llandudno?

R350 flat, whether you order two bags or twenty, across Hout Bay, the valley and Llandudno. Postcode 7806 is the same zone as Constantia; the rest of the peninsula is R495. Your fee shows at checkout before you pay.

Our wood store is under trees and never really dries out. What do you suggest?

A roof and moving air. Keep the stack clear of the soil, put something solid over the top and leave the ends open so the valley wind gets through. With nowhere covered at all, buy bagged rather than loose — bagged wood is seasoned and stored under cover before it reaches you.

Can you get down to a Llandudno house below the road?

Usually. Tell us where a truck can stop, roughly how many steps there are and whether the wood goes to a store, a garage or the braai, and the driver brings the right number of hands. Llandudno has no shops and no reason for a truck to be there twice, so that detail saves a second trip.

Do you deliver loose loads to a smallholding up the valley?

All year — 250 to 3,000 pieces of blue gum or blackwattle, R550 for 250 or R2,000 for 1,000, delivered and offloaded where you say. Loose wood is sold as-is for buyers with covered storage and carries no Dry Guarantee. From April we deliver bagged only.

Is the bagged wood dry enough for a valley that never dries out?

Yes. Every bag is seasoned and kept under cover at our Parow yard until it goes on the truck, so it lights first time and burns hot instead of hissing. That is the Dry Guarantee we have stood behind for 25 years: if a bag disappoints, tell us and we make it right. It covers bagged wood only — loose loads are sold as-is — and in Hout Bay the roof you keep it under matters as much as the bag. Read the Dry Guarantee.

Which way does the truck come if Chapman’s Peak is closed?

Over Constantia Nek. A Chapman’s Peak closure does not cancel a Hout Bay delivery; the truck comes in from the Constantia side instead, and on a bad-weather day it can add to the turnaround. Checkout shows the live turnaround before you pay.

Can a harbour restaurant get a standing charcoal order?

Yes. Restaurant-grade lump charcoal, kameeldoring or briquettes, in the quantity the week needs, on the same day every week without re-ordering — delivered to the kitchen door. and we set it up.

Do you deliver to the smallholdings and estates up the valley at the same fee?

Yes — the whole of Hout Bay in postcode 7806 is R350, from the harbour to the top of the valley, estates and smallholdings included. Give us the property name, the gate and where the barn or wood store is in the order notes; checkout confirms the fee from your postcode before you pay.
