Delivery to Camps Bay & Clifton
The Firewood Company delivers Namibian hardwood, kaggelhout, lump charcoal and firelighters to Camps Bay, Clifton and Bakoven for R350 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–2 business days. Offloading and stacking the bags included.
Delivery fee: R350 flat, whatever you order. No minimum.
Delivery days: Monday to Friday. Typical turnaround is 1–2 business days; in peak winter weeks it can stretch to 2–4. The turnaround for your order is shown at checkout before you pay, and we update it as demand changes.
Cut-off: order by Thursday 15:00 to be on Friday’s run. After that, ask — there is sometimes space on a Friday morning truck, but don’t count on it.
Offloading and stacking the bags: included. Unbagging is R10 a bag, added at checkout.
Access: Clifton is the one place on our map with no vehicle access at all. Everything below Victoria Road goes down on foot, so we need roughly how many steps and somewhere on the road the truck can stand. Camps Bay is the other kind of problem — driveways off Camps Bay Drive and Geneva Drive steep enough that we work from the top rather than reverse down. A gate code in the order notes and nobody has to phone anybody.
Camps Bay & Clifton: the local paragraph
Most of what we bring here comes over the Nek — Kloof Nek Road out of Tamboerskloof, then down Camps Bay Drive, which on a December Friday is carrying everybody else as well. Camps Bay is built up a slope with the Twelve Apostles standing behind it, so the houses face west, the light lasts until it goes into the sea, and the fire that gets lit is usually the one outside on the terrace. Clifton works differently again. Those bungalows are cut into the cliff under Victoria Road and you reach them on foot, down a staircase — which leaves a small hearth at the bottom and a household that buys what it can carry. Bakoven, once the Camps Bay houses run out, is cottages tucked in among the boulders. A good number of these addresses change hands every few nights, being holiday lets and guest houses, which puts the delivery on the changeover morning rather than whenever it suits us.
What we’d put on the truck for a Camps Bay holiday house: Chunky for the fire pit, two bags of lump charcoal and a box of firelighters, dropped the morning of the changeover. For a Clifton bungalow: a bag of heat logs and a bag of short pieces, taken down the steps.
