Delivery to Camps Bay & Clifton

The Firewood Company delivers Namibian hardwood, kaggelhout, lump charcoal and firelighters to Camps Bay, Clifton and Bakoven for R300 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–2 business days, and the driver carries the bags down the steps or up the drive and stacks them — that is in the fee.

Delivery fee: R300 to Camps Bay, Clifton or Bakoven, two bags or twenty. No minimum order.

Delivery days: Monday to Friday. Most Camps Bay orders arrive within 1–2 business days; in the December rush and the coldest weeks of winter allow 2–4. Checkout shows the current turnaround before you pay.

Cut-off: Thursday 15:00 for Friday’s Atlantic Seaboard run — the one that matters for a house filling up on Friday evening. Later than that, WhatsApp us, but don’t build the weekend on the answer.

Carry-in and stacking: in the fee, Clifton steps included. If you want the wood loose in a store rather than in bags, unbagging is R10 a bag at checkout.

Access: Clifton is the one place on our map with no vehicle access at all. Everything below Victoria Road goes down on foot, so we need roughly how many steps and somewhere on the road the truck can stand. Camps Bay is the other kind of problem — driveways off Camps Bay Drive and Geneva Drive steep enough that we work from the top rather than reverse down. A gate code in the order notes and nobody has to phone anybody.

Over the Nek and down to the sea

Most of what we bring here comes over the Nek — Kloof Nek Road out of Tamboerskloof, then down Camps Bay Drive, which on a December Friday is carrying everybody else as well. Camps Bay is built up a slope with the Twelve Apostles standing behind it, so the houses face west, the light lasts until it goes into the sea, and the fire that gets lit is usually the one outside on the terrace. Clifton works differently again. Those bungalows are cut into the cliff under Victoria Road and you reach them on foot, down a staircase — which leaves a small hearth at the bottom and a household that buys what it can carry. Bakoven, once the Camps Bay houses run out, is cottages tucked in among the boulders. A good number of these addresses change hands every few nights, being holiday lets and guest houses, which puts the delivery on the changeover morning rather than whenever it suits us.

What we’d put on the truck for a Camps Bay holiday house: Chunky for the fire pit, two bags of lump charcoal and a box of firelighters, dropped the morning of the changeover. For a Clifton bungalow: a bag of heat logs and a bag of short pieces, taken down the steps.

Our place in Clifton has no vehicle access. Can you still deliver?

Yes — everything below Victoria Road goes down on foot, and that is routine here. Say roughly how many steps in the order notes and where on the road we can stand the truck. The crew comes sized for the job and the bags get stacked at the bottom, not left at the top.

Do you supply guest houses and self-catering in Camps Bay?

Bakoven and the Camps Bay side of Victoria Road, yes, at R300. Llandudno itself is on our South Peninsula run with Hout Bay at R350 and has its own page. Checkout confirms the fee from your postcode before you pay.
