What the Winelands orders
This is two markets on one route, and the order book shows it plainly.
The estate homes and farm houses — Constantia-sized orders of kaggelhout, because a house in the Jonkershoek valley or under the Franschhoek mountains holds the cold in a way a Sea Point flat never will. And the trade — the restaurants, tasting rooms and guest houses that need lump charcoal every week and cannot afford the week it doesn’t arrive.
Blue Gum / Bloekom Seasoned ±20kg — R109 — the winter staple. Seasoned bloekom that lights easily and settles into a long, steady burn.
Kameeldoring ±18kg — R120 — dense, hot, almost smokeless coals. The choice for closed-combustion fireplaces and for anyone whose dinners end with everybody staring into the fire.
Blackwattle Seasoned ±20kg — R109 — the all-rounder. Denser than bloekom, hotter and longer, and good cooking coals — one bag covers Saturday’s braai and Sunday night’s fire.
Delivery to the Winelands & Helderberg
The Firewood Company delivers kaggelhout, Namibian hardwood and restaurant-grade charcoal to Stellenbosch, Somerset West, Strand, Gordon’s Bay, Paarl, Wellington and Franschhoek for R300 per drop, typically within 1–2 business days. Bags stacked for you; trade standing orders on request.
Delivery fee: R300 flat to any address in Stellenbosch, Somerset West, Strand, Gordon’s Bay, Paarl, Wellington or Franschhoek.
Delivery days: Monday to Friday. Typical turnaround is 1–2 business days; in peak winter weeks it can stretch to 2–4. The turnaround for your order is shown at checkout before you pay, and we update it as demand changes.
Cut-off: order by Thursday 15:00 to be on the Friday run. Orders after that can sometimes be squeezed onto Friday morning’s trucks if there’s space — ask, don’t count on it.
Offloading and stacking the bags: included — long farm driveway, back gate, wood store around the side; we carry the bags in and stack them where you want them. Put it in the order notes and it’s handled. Unbagging — emptying the bags onto your pile — is R10 a bag, added at checkout.

On the fee — plainly. You can be quoted less than this in the Winelands, and by someone with a yard in Wellington or Paarl. What you get from us for the difference is wood we have seasoned and stored under cover, kameeldoring and sekelbos, restaurant-grade lump charcoal, briquettes and LP gas, twenty-five years of turning up, and 720 people on Google who will tell you what that’s worth. Do you deliver to Wellington and Franschhoek?
Yes — both are on the route. It’s recent coverage, so if you’ve tried us before and been turned away, try again.
How quickly can you deliver to the Winelands?
Typically within 1–2 business days, Monday to Friday — order by Thursday 15:00 for the Friday run. In peak winter weeks allow 2–4 days; July is the month everybody remembers the fireplace at once. Whatever it is on the day, it’s shown at checkout before you pay.
Which wood is best for a Winelands fireplace?
Blue Gum / Bloekom for an open hearth. Namibian hardwood if you run a closed-combustion unit and want a slow overnight burn — the valleys hold the cold and a hardwood fire will still be going in the morning.
Is your wood actually dry?
