Delivery to Franschhoek
The Firewood Company delivers kaggelhout, braai wood, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to Franschhoek, La Motte, Le Roux, the estates along the R45 and the farms up the Franschhoek Pass road for R300 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 2–4 business days, and the driver carries the bags in and stacks them — one store or room by room, it is in the fee.
Delivery fee: R300 for a cottage on the main road or a guest-house stack up the Pass road. No minimum order.
Delivery days: Monday to Friday. Franschhoek is the far end of the Winelands round, so allow 2–4 business days; checkout shows the live turnaround before you pay.
Cut-off: Thursday 15:00 for Friday’s Winelands run. After that, the honest answer is usually the following week — WhatsApp us anyway.
Carry-in and stacking: in the fee. If you want the wood loose in a store rather than left in bags, unbagging is R10 a bag at checkout.
Access: Estate and farm addresses need the estate or farm name, the gate procedure and where the wood store is. Guest houses: tell us which entrance and whether the wood goes to one store or to the rooms. The main road is narrow and busy at lunchtime — a side street or a service entrance saves the driver a lap.
A valley that closes in on itself
Franschhoek is a valley that closes in on itself. The mountains take the sun off the eastern side by mid-afternoon from May onwards, the cold pools on the valley floor overnight, and the old Huguenot houses along the main road — thatch, thick walls, a fireplace in every front room — hold that cold until something is burning in them. This is a town of fires: guest houses that promise a lit hearth on arrival, restaurants cooking over wood, wine estates with a braai room for the harvest crew and a fireplace for the tasting room, and private houses up the slope with a closed-combustion unit and a view. It orders steadily from April and heavily from June, and the wood has to be right, because a smoky, hissing fire in a Franschhoek guest room ends up in a review.
Summer is the other half. From November the valley fills every weekend, the braai moves outside under the oaks, and the order becomes kameeldoring coals and stompies rather than a winter’s stack of bloekom. Either way, the truck comes up the R45 on the Winelands run and stacks it where you say.
What we’d put on the truck for a Franschhoek guest house in winter: fifteen bloekom for the rooms, six blackwattle for the lounge hearth, and two boxes of firelighters. For an estate braai in February: ten kameeldoring, four Namibian hardwood chunky and a bag of stompies.
What Franschhoek orders
Blue Gum / Bloekom Seasoned 20kg — R109 — the everyday wood for a thatched front room or a guest-house hearth. Lights cleanly, burns even, and it is the bag that goes through a Franschhoek winter by the dozen.
Kameeldoring 18kg — R120 — dense Namibian hardwood that coals down slowly. The braai wood under the oaks, and the fireplace wood for a closed-combustion unit that has to hold overnight.
Namibian Hardwood Chunky 18kg — R135 — extra-large pieces for a boma or an outdoor fire that runs all evening. One bag builds the fire instead of feeding it.

Franschhoek firewood delivery — FAQ
How much is firewood delivery to Franschhoek?
R300 flat per drop, whether it is six bags to a cottage on the main road or a guest-house order up the Pass road. The same fee covers La Motte, Le Roux and the estates along the R45, and it shows at checkout before you pay.
We run a guest house. Can we get a standing order?
Yes. Tell us the quantity and the day, and it goes on the Winelands run every week without you re-ordering — WhatsApp 060 978 8945 and we set it up. Most guest houses take bloekom for the rooms and kameeldoring for the lounge.
Which wood suits an old thatched house in Franschhoek?
Bloekom for a deep open hearth — it catches easily and burns evenly without spitting. For a closed-combustion unit we recommend bloekom or blackwattle — steady, even heat that won’t push the unit past what it was built for.
Do you deliver over the Franschhoek Pass or to Villiersdorp?
Not on the standard route. The Winelands run ends at Franschhoek and the farms just past the village. If you are over the Pass, WhatsApp us with the address and quantity — a farm-sized order is sometimes enough to add a stop.
Is the wood dry enough for a guest room fire that has to light first time?
Yes. Every bag is seasoned and kept under cover at our Parow yard until it goes on the truck, so it lights cleanly and burns hot instead of hissing — which matters when the fire is part of the room rate. That is the Dry Guarantee we have stood behind for 25 years: if a bag disappoints, tell us and we make it right. Read the Dry Guarantee.
Can a restaurant or wine estate order wood-oven and braai wood in bulk?
Yes — restaurant-grade lump charcoal, kameeldoring and sekeldoring for ovens and braais, in whatever quantity the week needs, and there is no maximum. Give us the estate name, the service entrance and where the wood store is in the order notes, or WhatsApp us to set up a standing order for the season.
Do you deliver to the estates along the R45 between Paarl and Franschhoek?
Yes — the R45 estates, La Motte, Le Roux and the farms up the Pass road are on the Franschhoek end of the Winelands run. Checkout works the fee out from your postcode; if it looks wrong for where you are, WhatsApp us the address before you pay.
Why is the lead time 2–4 days here?
Franschhoek is the far end of the Winelands and Helderberg round, which goes out when the round fills rather than every day. Order by Thursday 15:00 and Friday’s run is the one to count on; checkout always shows the live turnaround before you pay.
Sun off the valley by four?
Order by Thursday 15:00 and you’re on Friday’s Winelands run — carried in and stacked where you want it.
