Delivery to the Southern Suburbs
The Firewood Company delivers kaggelhout, braai wood, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to Newlands, Rondebosch, Claremont and Kenilworth for R300 per drop, and to Wynberg, Plumstead, Tokai and Bergvliet for R350. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–2 business days. Offloading and stacking the bags included.
Delivery fee: R300 flat across Newlands, Rondebosch, Rosebank, Mowbray, Claremont, Kenilworth, Bishopscourt, Harfield and Observatory. Wynberg, Plumstead, Diep River, Southfield, Constantia, Tokai, Bergvliet, Kirstenhof, Lakeside and Meadowridge are R350 (a different zone); Pinelands is R250.
Delivery days: Monday to Friday. Typical turnaround is 1–2 business days; in peak winter weeks it can stretch to 2–4. The turnaround for your order is shown at checkout before you pay, and we update it as demand changes.
Cut-off: order by Thursday 15:00 to be on the Friday run. Miss it and there is occasionally room on a Friday morning truck — ask, don’t count on it.
Offloading and stacking the bags: included. Unbagging is R10 a bag, added at checkout. Say where in the order notes — wood store, garage, under the stoep — and that is where it goes.
Minimum order: none — order what you need.
Access: the M3 gets the truck in; the streets off it are old and the driveways long. A Bishopscourt gate, a Harfield one-way, a side passage in Rondebosch — one line in the order notes covers all of it.

What the Southern Suburbs orders
This is fireplace country, and the geography explains why.
Table Mountain stands to the west of Newlands, Rondebosch and Claremont, so the eastern slopes lose the sun early on a winter afternoon — a Newlands garden can be in shadow by three while the far side of the peninsula still has an hour of light. Newlands is also the wettest suburb in Cape Town, and the Liesbeek runs cold through the middle of it. The houses were built for exactly this: Victorian and Edwardian, high ceilings, a chimney on the gable and a working hearth in the front room, lit most evenings from the first cold front to the last. Nobody here installed a fireplace as a feature. They bought a house that came with one.
Further south the valley opens out. Constantia and Tokai sit under the Constantiaberg, where the mist settles overnight and the cold pools on the flat ground below, and this is where the big winter orders come from — thatch and stone, closed-combustion units, and a wood store built for a season rather than a week. Bishopscourt’s long driveways run to houses with hearths to match.
Then a Saturday comes round with cricket at Newlands and the rugby on, the oaks are dripping, and the braai under the stoep gets lit as well. So we’d send a Southern Suburbs house bloekom for the hearth, on repeat, Namibian hardwood for the closed-combustion unit, and kameeldoring for the weekend.

Can you carry the wood through to the back?
Yes. Long driveway, side gate, up the steps, into the wood store behind the garage — tell us in the order notes where the bags go and whether there is a gate to open, and the driver stacks them there.
