Delivery to Pinelands
The Firewood Company delivers kaggelhout, braai wood, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to Pinelands for R250 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–2 business days. Offloading and stacking the bags included.
Delivery fee: R250 flat, whatever you order. No minimum. Pinelands is postcode 7405, which puts it in a different delivery zone from the R300 suburbs further south — closer to Parow, lower fee.
Delivery days: Monday to Friday. Typical turnaround is 1–2 business days; in peak winter weeks it can stretch to 2–4. The turnaround for your order is shown at checkout before you pay, and we update it as demand changes.
Cut-off: order by Thursday 15:00 to be on the Friday run. Later orders sometimes fit on a Friday morning truck — ask, but don’t build the weekend around it.
Offloading and stacking the bags: included. Unbagging is R10 a bag, added at checkout.
Collecting instead? The factory shop is at 35 Tredoux Street, Parow — Monday to Friday 08:00–16:30, Saturday 08:00–12:45 — and from Pinelands it is ten minutes up the road. No delivery fee, and we load the bakkie for you.
Access: wide avenues, deep verges and a driveway at nearly every house. The only thing to tell us is where the bags go — the garage, the wood store behind the kitchen, or under the carport — and whether the side gate is locked.
Pinelands: the local paragraph
Pinelands was laid out in 1919 as South Africa’s first garden city, and it still looks like the plan: curving avenues off Forest Drive, verges wider than some Cape Town streets, big trees, and houses set back on plots generous enough that neighbours don’t share a wall. A good number of the originals are thatched, and the rest were built in the same decades with a chimney on the roof and a hearth in the sitting room — often a small one, made for a different era of fuel. The suburb backs onto Mowbray Golf Club on one side and the N2 on the other, and on a winter evening the wind coming across the flats goes straight through an original timber sash. This is also the closest suburb on the route to our yard — Parow is ten minutes up Jan Smuts Drive — so a Pinelands order is either the cheapest delivery on the route or a Saturday morning with a bakkie, whichever suits.
What we’d put on the truck for a Pinelands house: four bloekom for the sitting-room hearth, two Short Pieces for the small grate in the study, a bag of Pine kindling, stacked in the garage.

We have a thatched roof. Can we still burn wood in the fireplace?
Follow your thatch insurer’s guidance on chimney and fireplace use — that is the only advice we will give on thatch, because they know your roof and your policy and we don’t. Whatever they allow, we deliver.
Which wood is best for an old Pinelands hearth?
Blue Gum / Bloekom for a full-sized open hearth. Short Pieces if the grate is small, as many of the original houses are. Heat Logs or Namibian Hardwood Mix if you run a closed-combustion unit and want the heat to hold through the evening.
