Delivery to Muizenberg

The Firewood Company delivers kaggelhout, braai wood, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to Muizenberg, Marina da Gama, Lakeside and the streets up Boyes Drive for R350 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–2 business days, and the driver carries the bags in and stacks them at the fireplace, the braai or the wood store — that is in the fee.

Delivery fee: R350 flat to any Muizenberg, Marina da Gama or Lakeside address, whatever the size of the order. No minimum.

Delivery days: Monday to Friday. Muizenberg is the first stop on the South Peninsula run, so most orders arrive within 1–2 business days; in the wettest weeks of winter, when the whole of False Bay orders in the same week, allow 2–4. Checkout shows the current turnaround before you pay.

Cut-off: Thursday 15:00 for Friday’s South Peninsula run. After that we would rather put you on the next run than promise a truck that is already loaded — us and we tell you straight.

Carry-in and stacking: in the fee. If you would rather have the wood loose in a store than in bags, unbagging is R10 a bag at checkout.

Access: the old village streets behind the beach are narrow and parking is tight, so the truck stops as close as it can and the driver carries the rest. Up Boyes Drive it is steps — tell us how many and where the wood goes. In Marina da Gama, give us the road and whether the store is on the water side.

Storing it here: salt air and the north-wester get into an open stoep within weeks. Keep the bags in the garage or a covered store, off the floor, covered on top with the sides open — and order for a month rather than a season if there is nowhere dry.

Surfer’s Corner, the vlei and the old village

Muizenberg is where the South Peninsula starts and where Cape Town first went to the seaside — the painted huts on the beach, the old hotels and boarding houses on the Main Road, and behind them a village of Victorian and Edwardian semis that were built with a fireplace in every front room and, on the whole, still have it. Surfer’s Corner keeps the place young; the streets up towards Boyes Drive and St James keep it old. Then there is Marina da Gama, a different suburb altogether — built in the 1970s along the canals of Zandvlei, with a deck and a braai on the water and a closed-combustion stove in a good many of the lounges — and Lakeside, tucked between the vlei and the mountain.

The weather does the ordering. In summer the south-easter comes across False Bay and the braai here is a kettle with the lid on, charcoal or briquettes, or kameeldoring in a built-in with the house at its back. In winter the north-wester brings the rain in off the sea and the front-room fireplace earns its keep — bloekom by the dozen bags from May, blackwattle for the stoves in Marina da Gama. The truck comes down the M3 from Parow, over the back of Tokai and into Main Road, about forty minutes on a clear morning, and Muizenberg is the first drop before the run carries on to Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek and Noordhoek.

What Muizenberg orders

Blue Gum / Bloekom Seasoned ±20kg — R109 — the front-room fireplace wood for the old village. Lights easily, burns long and even through a wet evening off the bay.

Blackwattle ±20kg — R109 — the wood for the closed-combustion stoves in Marina da Gama and Lakeside — denser than bloekom, slower to burn, holds heat overnight.

Namib Briquettes 4kg — R55 — steady, uniform heat that holds longer than lump — the right call for a kettle braai on the deck with the south-easter up.

Muizenberg firewood delivery — FAQ

How much is firewood delivery to Muizenberg?

R350 flat per drop, the same for Marina da Gama, Lakeside and the streets up Boyes Drive, and the same for one bag or twenty. Checkout confirms the fee from your postcode before you pay.

Is Muizenberg the same fee as Fish Hoek and Kalk Bay?

No — Muizenberg, Marina da Gama and Lakeside are the near end of the South Peninsula run at R350. Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek and further down the peninsula carry a higher fee for the extra distance. Checkout shows the right fee for your postcode.

Can you deliver to the old village streets where parking is impossible?

Yes — the truck stops as close as it can and the driver carries the bags the rest of the way. Tell us the street, whether there are steps and where the wood goes, and we do the carrying. Up Boyes Drive, say how many flights.

Which wood for the Victorian fireplaces in Muizenberg?

Bloekom for an open grate — it lights easily and burns long and even. For a small original fireplace, Short Pieces of bloekom and blackwattle are cut to fit. For a closed-combustion stove, blackwattle or Heat Logs, which give little ash and a very steady burn.

Is the wood dry when it arrives?

Yes. Every bag is seasoned and kept under cover at our Parow yard until it goes on the truck, so it lights properly and burns hot instead of hissing. That is the Dry Guarantee we have stood behind for 25 years: if a bag disappoints, tell us and we make it right. Keep it under cover and the sea air never gets a say. Read the Dry Guarantee.

Do you deliver to Marina da Gama and Lakeside?

Yes — both are on the Muizenberg end of the South Peninsula run at R350. For Marina da Gama, put the road and the store in the order notes; for Lakeside, whether the wood goes to the garage or the braai.

Do you deliver to Muizenberg on a Saturday?

No — the South Peninsula run is Monday to Friday. Order by Thursday 15:00 and Friday’s truck has the wood stacked before the weekend. The factory shop at 35 Tredoux Street, Parow is open Saturdays 08:00–12:45 for collection.

Do you supply the restaurants, surf cafés and guest houses in Muizenberg?

Yes. Restaurant-grade lump charcoal, briquettes, kameeldoring and firewood in quantity, on a standing order that runs with the South Peninsula run days and lands at the kitchen door. LP gas through our sister company Help U Gas. us for trade pricing.

Order for the next South Peninsula run

Order by Thursday 15:00 and Friday’s truck comes down the M3 with your bags — carried in and stacked, out of the weather off the bay.
