Namibian Hardwood

Namibian hardwood in Cape Town: kameeldoring, sekeldoring, swarthaak and mopane, plus a hand-packed mix, an extra-large Chunky bag and compressed Heat Logs. All of it harvested under permit from dead wood, dry-fumigated and brought in from Namibia, then stored under cover here. These are the dense woods. Kameeldoring (±18kg) is the king of braai wood: the bigger, denser piece, a deep bed of coals that hold, and the musky smell braai purists know. Sekeldoring (±18kg) is its fierce little brother: smaller pieces, lights faster, burns fiercer, still good coals, and the pick for a pizza oven. Swarthaak (±15kg) is nearly kameeldoring density at a friendlier price and makes little smoke. Mopane (±15kg) is the slow, aromatic one for a potjie, a smoker or an open fireplace. Next to bloekom, all of them burn slower and leave more coal from the same bag, which is why this is the choice for a braai for a crowd and a long weekend fire outdoors.
