What the West Coast orders
The West Coast burns differently to the rest of our map. Cape Town orders peak in July for indoor fireplaces. Up here it’s braai wood, and it moves hardest over December, Easter and every long weekend — holiday houses filling up, and everyone arriving with the same thought about an hour too late.
Rooikrans Bulk Bag — R80 — the West Coast’s own braai wood. It grows on this coastline, it burns hot, and it leaves the kind of coals that snoek and crayfish want. If you braai on the Weskus you already know it — the only question is whether yours is properly dry. Ours is.
Blue Gum / Bloekom Seasoned ±20kg — R109 — the holiday-house all-rounder for indoors. One bag covers Saturday evening when the wind comes up off the lagoon and nobody wants to be outside.
Kameeldoring ±18kg — R120 — dense, slow, almost smokeless. For the long table and the late night.
Worth having in the storeroom before December, not during it.
How the West Coast route works
The Firewood Company delivers braai wood, rooikrans, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to Malmesbury, Darling, Yzerfontein and Langebaan for R350 per drop on a fixed route — every second and last Friday of the month, order by Thursday 15:00. Minimum order R2,000.
Delivery fee: R350 flat to any address in Malmesbury, Darling, Yzerfontein or Langebaan.
Route days: every second Friday and the last Friday of the month.
Cut-off: order by Thursday 15:00 to make that Friday’s truck. Miss it and you’re on the next run — so if the house is full over a long weekend, order early.
Offloading and stacking the bags: included. We carry them to your wood store, garage or braai and stack them neatly where you want them — put it in the order notes and it’s handled. Unbagging — emptying the bags onto your pile — is R10 a bag, added at checkout.
Minimum order: R2,000. It’s a dedicated truck on a set day, and that is what makes the flat fee possible.
Why a fixed route, and not next-day? Because it’s honest. Next-day to Langebaan means a dedicated truck, and a dedicated truck means a different fee. We run a full truck on a set day instead. That’s what keeps the fee at one number instead of “on request at quoted rates” — and it’s why we can tell you the price on this page rather than making you phone for it.

How much is firewood delivery to Langebaan?
R350 flat, to any address in Langebaan, Yzerfontein, Darling or Malmesbury. The fee is the same across the whole West Coast route and you’ll see it at checkout before you pay.
When do you deliver to the West Coast?
Every second Friday and the last Friday of the month. Order by Thursday 15:00 and you’re on that Friday’s truck.
Is there a minimum order for the West Coast?
Yes — R2,000. It’s the only route with one, because it’s a dedicated truck on a fixed day. Most holiday houses order a season at a time anyway; wood keeps.
Why don’t you deliver to the West Coast every day?
Because a dedicated run for one order would cost more than the delivery fee. Running a full truck on a fixed day is what lets us charge one flat, published rate instead of quoting each order separately.
Do you deliver to Saldanha, Vredenburg or Paternoster?
Not on the current route — it ends at Langebaan. WhatsApp us if you’re further up the coast; if we get enough demand, the route extends.
What’s the best braai wood for the West Coast?
Rooikrans, most days — it’s the coastal wood, it burns hot and coals fast. For a long slow evening, Namibian hardwood. Most holiday houses keep both.
Is your wood actually dry?
