Delivery to Tokai & Bergvliet

The Firewood Company delivers kaggelhout, braai wood, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to Tokai, Bergvliet, Kirstenhof, Lakeside and Meadowridge for R350 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–2 business days, and the driver carries the bags through to the braai room or the patio and stacks them — that is in the fee.

Delivery fee: R350 on any size order, no minimum. Postcode 7945 — Tokai, Bergvliet, Kirstenhof, Lakeside and Westlake — sits in the R350 zone, not the R300 zone that covers Newlands, Rondebosch and Claremont. Meadowridge shares Constantia’s postcode and is R350 with it.

Delivery days: Monday to Friday, and Saturdays on request when there is enough demand. Most Tokai orders arrive within 1–2 business days; on the coldest weeks, when the mist sits on Tokai Road all morning and every braai room orders at once, allow 2–4. Checkout shows the current turnaround before you pay.

Cut-off: Thursday 15:00 for Friday’s Southern Suburbs run. Later than that, WhatsApp us — if Friday’s truck has a gap you are on it, and if not we say so.

Carry-in and stacking: in the fee, through the garage and out to the patio. If you want the bags emptied into a wood store, unbagging is R10 a bag at checkout.

Access: quiet residential streets with a driveway at most houses, so the truck parks at the gate. The bags usually go through the garage to the braai room or the patio — say which door, and whether the side gate is locked.

Tokai sits at the foot of the Constantiaberg, and cold air runs downhill. On a still winter night it slides off the mountain, through what is left of the Tokai pines, and pools across the flat ground of Tokai, Bergvliet, Kirstenhof and Meadowridge — which is why the coldest mornings on our Southern Suburbs route are here, and why the mist off the plantation sits in the streets around Tokai Road long after Wynberg has cleared. The houses are family houses: 1960s and 70s single-storeys on decent plots, a fireplace in the lounge and, nearly always, a braai room or a covered patio with a built-in braai that gets used through winter as much as through summer. Kirstenhof and Lakeside carry the pattern down towards the vlei, and the Steenberg side adds bigger, newer homes with closed-combustion units and a wood store to match. Meadowridge, across Ladies Mile, is the same generation of house on quieter streets. This is a two-fire suburb — kaggelhout for the lounge and braai wood for the room next to it — and the sensible order is both in one drop, so the weekend is covered whatever the mountain does.

Blue Gum / Bloekom Seasoned 20kg — R109 — the lounge wood. Lights easily and gives a long, even evening in the fireplace of a 1970s Bergvliet house.

Blackwattle Seasoned 20kg — R109 — denser than bloekom, hotter, longer, and good cooking coals. The braai-room wood: local hardwood behaviour at a local price, and a bag for the chops on a wet Saturday.

Kameeldoring 18kg — R120 — dense Namibian hardwood that burns down to a bed of coals and holds it. For the closed-combustion unit on the Steenberg side, and for the braai when the whole street is coming.

How much is firewood delivery to Tokai and Bergvliet?

R350 flat, whether you order two bags or twenty, and the same across Kirstenhof, Lakeside and Meadowridge. Postcode 7945 sits in a different delivery zone from Newlands and Claremont at R300. It shows at checkout before you pay.

Which wood is best for an indoor braai room?

Blackwattle or kameeldoring — both are dense, seasoned hardwood that goes to coals cleanly, which matters more indoors than out. Rooikrans if you want it lit and ready fast. Keep the lounge on bloekom and let the braai room have the hardwood.

It gets properly cold in Tokai. How much should I order?

Whatever your wood store holds — there is no minimum and no maximum, and the route runs Monday to Friday, so topping up mid-winter is a normal order rather than an emergency. Our suggestion for a Tokai or Bergvliet house is the lounge wood and the braai wood in the same order, kept under cover on the patio.

Is Meadowridge the same delivery fee as Constantia?

Yes — both are R350. Meadowridge shares Constantia’s postcode and its delivery zone. Enter your address at checkout and the fee comes back before you pay.

Yes — all of postcode 7945 is on the same R350 Southern Suburbs run as Tokai and Bergvliet, Westlake and the Steenberg estates included. Checkout confirms the fee from your postcode before you pay.

Can you deliver to a security estate on the Steenberg side?

Yes. Put the estate name, the gate procedure and where the wood store is in the order notes, and the driver books in and carries the bags to it. Long driveways and a wood store round the back are normal on this route.

Do you deliver to Tokai on a Saturday?

On request only. The Southern Suburbs run is Monday to Friday, and a Saturday truck goes when enough demand lines up for the day — ask on WhatsApp. Order by Thursday 15:00 and Friday’s truck has the braai room stocked before the weekend.
