Delivery to Wynberg & Plumstead
The Firewood Company delivers kaggelhout, braai wood, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to Wynberg, Plumstead, Diep River and Southfield for R300 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–2 business days, and the driver carries the bags in and stacks them — a Chelsea Village lane or a Plumstead garage, it is in the fee.
Delivery fee: R300 to Wynberg, Plumstead, Diep River and Southfield on any size order — two bags of Short Pieces or a garage full. No minimum.
Delivery days: Monday to Friday, and Saturdays on request when there is enough demand. Most Wynberg orders arrive within 1–2 business days; when a front comes over the peninsula and the whole hill orders in the same week, allow 2–4. Checkout shows the current turnaround before you pay.
Cut-off: Thursday 15:00 for Friday’s Southern Suburbs run. After that, WhatsApp us; a gap on the Friday truck happens, but treat a yes as a bonus rather than a plan.
Carry-in and stacking: in the fee, down the side passage and into the garage. If you would rather have the wood loose in a box, unbagging is R10 a bag at checkout.
Access: the easiest part of the route. Main Road and the M5 bring the truck straight in, and most houses have a driveway or a gate at the pavement. Chelsea Village is the exception — narrow lanes and no driveways, so the bags come the last stretch by hand.
Two suburbs stacked on a hill
Wynberg is two suburbs stacked on a hill. At the top, Chelsea Village is a grid of Georgian and Victorian cottages around Church Street and Wynberg Park — whitewashed, low, thick-walled, with a fireplace set into a room that was never large. Short Pieces suit it; a full-length bloekom log sits half out of the grate. At the bottom of the hill, around Maynardville, the streets carry the bigger Edwardian houses with a proper chimney stack and a hearth to go with it. Cross Main Road into Plumstead and the housing changes generation: 1930s to 1950s bungalows and semis on Gabriel Road and the streets off it, plastered and solid, with a small brick hearth in the lounge that most owners kept and many have fitted with a closed-combustion unit. Diep River and Southfield run the same pattern south and east towards the M5. When a front comes over the peninsula the wind gets through those 1940s steel window frames, and the fire fixes it. What these fireplaces want is short, seasoned wood that lights without a fight, and a box of Heat Logs for the closed-combustion unit — a modest order, delivered often, rather than a season’s stack.
What we’d put on the truck for a Plumstead house: four Short Pieces for the hearth, two bloekom for the nights it needs to run late, a box of Heat Logs for the closed-combustion unit, stacked in the garage.
What Wynberg & Plumstead orders
Short Pieces – Blue Gum 20kg — R105 — cut short for the small grates in Chelsea Village and the brick hearths of Plumstead. Seasoned bloekom at a length that fits, so the fire draws and the room warms.
Blue Gum / Bloekom Seasoned 20kg — R109 — the fireplace wood for the full-sized Edwardian hearths at the Maynardville end of Wynberg. Lights without fuss and runs late into the evening.
Namibian Hardwood Eco / Heat Logs 10kg (12 logs) — R115 — compressed hardwood, uniform, low ash and no bark mess. The right thing for a closed-combustion unit in a Plumstead lounge, and it stores in a cupboard.

Wynberg & Plumstead firewood delivery — FAQ
How much is firewood delivery to Wynberg and Plumstead?
R300 flat, whether you order two bags or twenty, and the same across Plumstead, Southfield and Diep River. It shows at checkout before you pay.
Which wood is best for a small 1930s hearth in Plumstead?
Short Pieces. Those brick hearths are shallow, and a standard log either hangs out or smokes because it can’t draw. Short Pieces are the same seasoned bloekom cut to fit. If you’ve fitted a closed-combustion unit, bloekom or blackwattle is the wood we recommend; Heat Logs if you want fewer top-ups.
Can you deliver to a Chelsea Village cottage with no driveway?
Yes. The truck stops as close as the lane allows and the driver carries the bags to the door, through the house or down the side passage to wherever you keep the wood. Say in the order notes if the lane is one-way or the front door opens straight onto the pavement.
Do you deliver to Diep River and Southfield at the same fee?
Yes — R300, the same as Wynberg and Plumstead. All four run on the same Monday to Friday route, with the same Thursday 15:00 cut-off for Friday — enter your address at checkout and the fee comes back before you pay.
Is the wood dry enough for a shallow grate that smokes easily?
Yes — and a shallow grate is exactly where damp wood shows itself. Every bag is seasoned and kept under cover at our Parow yard until it goes on the truck, so it lights properly and burns hot instead of hissing. That is the Dry Guarantee we have stood behind for 25 years: if a bag disappoints, tell us and we make it right. Read the Dry Guarantee.
Do you deliver to flats and retirement homes along Wynberg Main Road?
Yes. Give us the building name, the floor and whether there is a lift in the order notes, and the driver brings the bags up. Two or three bags of Short Pieces or a box of Heat Logs at a time is the usual order, and there is no minimum.
Is Wynberg the same delivery fee as Claremont and Newlands?
Yes — R300, the same as Claremont, Kenilworth, Newlands and Rondebosch. Wynberg, Plumstead, Diep River and Southfield all sit in postcode 7800, which is in our R300 Southern Suburbs zone; only Constantia, Tokai and Bergvliet further south are R300. Checkout works the fee out from your postcode and shows it before you pay.
Can you deliver to a Plumstead house while I am at work?
Yes, if there is somewhere to leave it: a side passage, a garage you leave open, or with a neighbour. Put it in the order notes and the driver stacks the bags there. If the wood has to go inside, choose a day someone is home.
