Delivery to Paarl

The Firewood Company delivers kaggelhout, braai wood, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to Paarl, Courtrai, Northern Paarl, Southern Paarl, Denneburg, Dal Josafat, Agter-Paarl and Klein Drakenstein for R300 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–3 business days, and the driver carries the bags in and stacks them — round the side of a Main Street house or into a farm shed, it is in the fee.

Delivery fee: R300 for the town and the farms alike, two bags or a farm stack. No minimum order.

Delivery days: Monday to Friday. Paarl is on the Winelands round, so allow 1–3 business days, and 2–4 in the weeks of July when the whole valley is lighting fires. Checkout shows the live turnaround before you pay.

Cut-off: Thursday 15:00 for Friday’s Winelands run. After that the honest answer is usually the next run, though a WhatsApp costs nothing.

Carry-in and stacking: in the fee. If you want the wood loose in the store rather than left in bags, unbagging is R10 a bag at checkout.

Access: Main Street runs the length of the town and a good half of Paarl hangs off it, so say which end you are on and whether the wood goes through the front or round the side. On the farms, the gate code and the name of the dog are equally useful.

A valley town with a granite lid on it

Paarl is a valley town with a granite lid on it. The domes above the town — Paarl Rock and the two beside it — take the day’s heat and let it go slowly, which is part of why February here is properly hot and why the fire lives outdoors for months at a stretch. Winter does the opposite. The cold settles in the valley overnight, the Berg River fogs up before sunrise, and the old houses down Main Street give that cold nowhere to go: Cape Dutch gables and Victorian verandahs, rooms with ceilings built for January rather than July. A room like that wants a fire lit early, not a big fire lit late. Out at Agter-Paarl, Dal Josafat and Klein Drakenstein it turns into working farmland — sheds, a wood store, a braai that seats fifteen, and orders sized to match. Paarl is one of the few places on our map where the summer order and the winter order are both big, for opposite reasons.

What we’d put on the truck for a Paarl house in July: four blackwattle for the closed-combustion unit, four bloekom for the open hearth and four kameeldoring for the braai. In February: rooikrans, and plenty of it.

What Paarl orders

Kameeldoring 18kg — R120 — dense Namibian hardwood, and the one to burn when the valley cold sets in overnight. It coals down slowly and keeps radiating after the flames drop.

Namibian Hardwood Mix 15kg — R105 — a hand-packed mix of dense hardwood. The standing winter order for a high-ceilinged room down Main Street.

Rooikrans Bulk Bag — R80 — harvested in the Western Cape from invasive alien clearing. It catches quickly and coals quickly, which is the right behaviour for a braai lit late on a hot evening.

How much is firewood delivery to Paarl?

R300 flat per drop, the same in Courtrai, Denneburg, Dal Josafat, Agter-Paarl and Klein Drakenstein, and the same whether you order two bags or fill the bakkie. Checkout shows it before you pay.

Which wood suits an old Paarl house with high ceilings?

The Namibian hardwood mix or kameeldoring. A tall room loses its heat upward, so you want wood that coals down and keeps radiating rather than wood that flares and fades. Bloekom at R109 is the cheaper nightly option and does the job in a deep open hearth.

We have a smallholding outside town. Can we buy loose wood?

Yes, all year. Loose blue gum and blackwattle come in 250 to 3,000 pieces, R550 for 250 or R2,000 for 1,000; loose rooikrans is R800 for 250 or R2,950 for 1,000, offloaded where you say. Loose wood is sold as-is for buyers with covered storage and carries no Dry Guarantee; the bagged wood does.

Do you deliver braai wood to Paarl in summer?

All year, Monday to Friday. Summer is the busier half of the year here and the run comes through Paarl on the same schedule — Thursday 15:00 is the cut-off that puts you on Friday’s truck with the weekend still ahead of you.

Is the bagged wood dry enough for a foggy Berg River morning?

Yes. Every bag is seasoned and kept under cover at our Parow yard until it goes on the truck, so it lights first time and burns hot instead of hissing. Do you deliver to the estates and farms outside Paarl?

Paarl’s estates and the farms out towards Klein Drakenstein and Agter-Paarl are on the R300 Winelands run. Checkout works the fee out from your postcode; estates further along the R301 may fall under Franschhoek, which has its own page. If the fee looks wrong for where you are, WhatsApp us the address before you pay.

Can you deliver to a Paarl guest house or wine farm in bulk?

Yes. A farm braai that seats fifteen orders in stacks, not bags, and there is no maximum. Give us the farm name, the gate and where the wood store is in the order notes; for standing orders through the season, WhatsApp us and we set a rhythm that suits the bookings.
