Delivery to Strand & Gordon’s Bay
The Firewood Company delivers braai wood, charcoal, kaggelhout and Namibian hardwood to Strand, Gordon’s Bay, Melkbaai, Rusthof, Van der Stel and Harbour Island for R300 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–3 business days, and the driver takes the bags up in the lift and stacks them where you say — that is in the fee.
Delivery fee: R300 for one bag of charcoal or ten bags of hardwood, anywhere in Strand or Gordon’s Bay. No minimum order.
Delivery days: Monday to Friday. This is the far end of the Winelands and Helderberg round, so allow 1–3 business days, and 2–4 in the last weeks of December and the coldest weeks of winter. Checkout shows the live turnaround before you pay.
Cut-off: Thursday 15:00 for Friday’s run — for a house that fills up on a Friday afternoon, that is the one that counts. After the cut-off, WhatsApp us, but don’t build the weekend on the answer.
Carry-in and stacking: in the fee, lift and all. If you would rather have the wood loose in a store than in bags, unbagging is R10 a bag at checkout.
Access: the beachfront blocks mean a boom, a visitor bay and a lift. Give us the block name, the flat number and someone who will be there, and the bags go up rather than standing in the foyer.
Holiday towns buy fire in bursts
Strand and Gordon’s Bay buy fire the way holiday towns do — in bursts, around December, Easter and every long weekend, rather than in one July stock-up. The blocks along Beach Road fill in a week and empty in a week, and a flat that comes with a balcony braai usually comes with one cupboard going spare, which rules out a winter’s worth of wood before the conversation starts. That is the real constraint on this stretch of coast, and it is why charcoal and Short Pieces move harder here than anywhere else on our map. The second constraint is the air. Salt and sea mist find anything stored in an open carport or on an exposed balcony, and a bag that has been sitting out since March lights like it has been rained on. Buy less, more often, and keep it inside. Round the bay past the harbour, where Clarence Drive starts climbing toward Steenbras, the houses get bigger and the wind off the water gets stronger, and those orders come in proper winter quantities.
What we’d put on the truck for a Strand flat: one bag of Short Pieces, a 5kg bag of Namib charcoal and a box of firelighters. Enough for the week, small enough to store.
What Strand & Gordon’s Bay orders
Short Pieces – Blue Gum 20kg — R105 — blue gum in short lengths, sized for a balcony braai or a shallow flat hearth. Stacks into the space a suitcase takes.
Namib Charcoal 5kg — R55 — the everyday bag. No open flame to manage on a balcony, and the empty bag goes in the bin instead of the cupboard.
Namibian Hardwood Eco / Heat Logs 10kg (12 logs) — R115 — compressed hardwood: the same size every time, low ash, nothing to sweep up. Twelve logs in a box that fits on a shelf, indoors, where the sea air can’t reach them.

Strand & Gordon’s Bay firewood delivery — FAQ
How much is firewood delivery to Strand and Gordon’s Bay?
R300 flat per drop, the same in Melkbaai, Rusthof, Van der Stel and Harbour Island, and the same for one bag or ten. The fee is on the page and on the checkout screen before payment, not after it.
We’re in a holiday flat with almost no storage. What should we order?
Short Pieces at R105 and a 5kg bag of Namib charcoal at R55. Both stack small and both suit a week of braais rather than a season of them. Heat logs are the tidiest of the three: twelve compressed logs in one box, no bark, low ash.
Does sea air ruin firewood?
It does not help it. Salt and mist find anything left in an open carport or on a balcony, and damp wood is hard to light and disappointing once it is. Keep the bags closed and indoors — a cupboard, a store room, under the stairs — and buy smaller amounts more often instead of storing a winter’s worth beside the sea.
Can you deliver before the December holidays?
Yes, and the last two weeks of December are the busiest of the year on this road. Order by Thursday 15:00 for the Friday run, and if the house is filling up over the holidays, order the week before rather than the day before.
Is the wood dry when it arrives at the coast?
Yes. Every bag is seasoned and kept under cover at our Parow yard until it goes on the truck, so it arrives ready to light and burn hot. That is the Dry Guarantee we have stood behind for 25 years: if a bag disappoints, tell us and we make it right. What happens after that is up to the sea air — keep it inside. Read the Dry Guarantee.
Can you deliver to a holiday flat when the owner is not there yet?
Yes, if someone can receive it — a caretaker, the building manager or a neighbour. Put their name and number and the flat number in the order notes, and the driver books in at the boom and takes the bags up. If nobody can be there, order for the day you arrive.
Do you deliver up Clarence Drive and around the Gordon’s Bay harbour?
Yes — Gordon’s Bay including Harbour Island and the houses up towards Steenbras are on the same R300 Winelands and Helderberg run as Strand. Checkout confirms the fee from your postcode before you pay.
Which charcoal for a balcony braai?
Namib Charcoal 5kg — one bag, one braai, no open flame to manage on a balcony, and the empty bag goes in the bin. If you want longer, steadier heat for a kettle braai, briquettes hold temperature better than lump.
Order for the next Winelands run
Order by Thursday 15:00 and Friday’s truck comes down Beach Road with your bags — carried up and stacked out of the sea air.
