Delivery to Bo-Kaap & De Waterkant
The Firewood Company delivers kaggelhout, braai wood, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to the Bo-Kaap, Schotsche Kloof and De Waterkant for R300 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–2 business days, and the driver carries the bags from wherever the truck can stop up to your door and stacks them inside — that is in the fee, and on these streets it is most of the job.
Delivery fee: R300 flat from Rose Street to the top of Schotsche Kloof and across Buitengracht to De Waterkant, whatever the size of the order. No minimum.
Delivery days: Monday to Friday. Most Bo-Kaap orders arrive within 1–2 business days; in the wettest weeks of winter allow 2–4. Checkout shows the current turnaround before you pay.
Cut-off: Thursday 15:00 for Friday’s City Bowl run. Later than that, WhatsApp us — if the Friday truck has room we add you, and if not we say so.
Carry-in and stacking: in the fee — and here it matters. Wale, Chiappini and Rose Street are steep, narrow and cobbled in places, and the driver often parks a block away and carries. Tell us the house, the colour if that is how the street knows it, and where the wood goes. If you would rather have the wood loose than in bags, unbagging is R10 a bag at checkout.
Small fireplaces: many Bo-Kaap and De Waterkant houses have an original grate a standard log will not fit. Order Short Pieces, or ask us and we advise on what fits.
Guest houses and boutique hotels: De Waterkant and the Bo-Kaap have dozens. Tell us where the store is and when the front desk is staffed, and we deliver on a standing order that lands before the weekend guests do.
The steepest streets in the City Bowl
The Bo-Kaap climbs the lower slope of Signal Hill above the city in rows of flat-roofed, brightly painted houses that are among the oldest in Cape Town, many of them from the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries and most of them built with a small fireplace in the front room and a courtyard at the back. Schotsche Kloof runs on above it, steeper still. Across Buitengracht, De Waterkant is the same Georgian and Victorian terrace housing on a gentler slope, restored street by street since the 1990s into a village of guest houses, boutique hotels, cafés and design studios around the Cape Quarter. It is a place people walk, and a place delivery trucks are not designed for.
That shapes what and how we deliver. The order here is a few bags at a time, often, rather than a season’s stack — there is nowhere to put twenty bags in a Bo-Kaap house — and it leans to Short Pieces for the original grates, Heat Logs for the closed stoves in the restored houses, kindling and firelighters, and a bag of Namib charcoal or briquettes for the courtyard braai when the south-easter allows one. The guest houses take the same in quantity. The truck comes in from Parow on the N1 and up Buitengracht in about twenty-five minutes, then the driver does the last hundred metres on foot, which is exactly why the carry-in is in the fee.
What Bo-Kaap & De Waterkant orders
Short Pieces — Blue Gum & Blackwattle — R105 — cut shorter for the original grates in the old Bo-Kaap and De Waterkant houses. Lights easily, burns clean, fits.
Namibian Hardwood Eco Heat Logs — R115 — compressed hardwood with no bark, very little ash and a long, steady burn — the clean choice for a closed stove in a restored terrace house.
Namib Charcoal 5kg — R55 — one bag, one courtyard braai, no open wood fire to manage between close walls. The De Waterkant Friday-night bag.

Bo-Kaap & De Waterkant firewood delivery — FAQ
How much is firewood delivery to the Bo-Kaap or De Waterkant?
R300 flat per drop, the same for Schotsche Kloof, and the same for one bag or ten. Checkout shows it before you pay. The carry up the hill and the front steps is included.
The truck cannot get to my house — can you still deliver?
Yes. That is normal in the Bo-Kaap. The driver stops at the nearest corner the truck fits on and carries the bags to your door and inside. Put the street, the house number, the colour of the house if that helps, and a phone number in the order notes.
Which wood fits a small original fireplace?
Short Pieces — bloekom and blackwattle cut shorter for exactly these grates. For a closed stove in a restored house, Heat Logs give little ash and a long, steady burn. Add kindling and firelighters and the fire lights without effort.
Can you deliver to a guest house or boutique hotel when the desk is unmanned?
Yes, if there is somewhere covered to leave it — a store, a courtyard with a roof, a side door someone opens for us. Tell us in the order notes when the front desk is staffed and where the wood goes, and we time the drop for it.
Is the wood dry when it arrives?
Yes. Every bag is seasoned and kept under cover at our Parow yard until it goes on the truck, so it lights properly and burns hot instead of hissing. That is the Dry Guarantee we have stood behind for 25 years: if a bag disappoints, tell us and we make it right. Read the Dry Guarantee.
What can I braai on in a small courtyard between close walls?
Namib charcoal or briquettes in a kettle or a small built-in — no open wood fire to manage, less smoke for the neighbours, and the lid keeps the south-easter out of it. If it has to be wood, rooikrans in a small quantity, with a wall at the fire’s back.
Do you deliver to the Bo-Kaap on a Saturday?
No — the City Bowl run is Monday to Friday. Order by Thursday 15:00 and Friday’s truck has the wood stacked before the weekend. The factory shop at 35 Tredoux Street, Parow is open Saturdays 08:00–12:45 for collection.
Do you supply the restaurants and cafés in De Waterkant and on Rose Street?
Yes. Restaurant-grade lump charcoal, briquettes, kameeldoring and firewood in quantity, on a standing order that runs with the City Bowl run days and lands at the kitchen door. LP gas through our sister company Help U Gas. WhatsApp us for trade pricing.
