The Firewood Company delivers kaggelhout, heat logs, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to Vredehoek, Tamboerskloof, Higgovale, Devil’s Peak Estate and University Estate for R350 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–2 business days. Offloading and stacking the bags included.
Delivery fee: R350 flat, whatever you order. No minimum.
Delivery days: Monday to Friday. Typical turnaround is 1–2 business days; in peak winter weeks it can stretch to 2–4. The turnaround for your order is shown at checkout before you pay, and we update it as demand changes.
Cut-off: order by Thursday 15:00 to be on Friday’s run. After that, ask — there is sometimes space on a Friday morning truck, but don’t count on it.

Vredehoek & Tamboerskloof: the local paragraph
Vredehoek and Tamboerskloof are the two shoulders of the City Bowl, and they get different weather. Vredehoek climbs the eastern side under Devil’s Peak, from Upper Buitenkant up Derry Street to the blocks below De Waal Drive, and the south-easter arrives here before anywhere else in town: it pours over the saddle between the mountain and the peak and lands on the suburb at full strength, which is why people who live here call it the windiest in Cape Town without much argument. Devil’s Peak also keeps the morning sun off the upper streets until well after breakfast, so the art deco blocks lower down and the older houses higher up both run a fire from May. Tamboerskloof is the western shoulder, on the slope below Signal Hill and Lion’s Head along Kloof Nek Road, and it loses the sun the other way — mid-afternoon, behind Lion’s Head, while the harbour is still bright. Its housing is a split too: Victorian and Edwardian houses with a working hearth on the lower streets, and blocks of flats with a small closed unit or nothing at all further up towards Kloof Nek, where Camps Bay Drive drops over to the other side. Higgovale, tucked under the mountain above Tamboerskloof, is bigger houses, steeper driveways and bigger fireplaces. Everywhere up here, wood stacked in the open gets blown about; stack it in the garage or against the leeward wall.

Where should I store wood in a wind like ours?
Out of it. A garage, a store cupboard, or a stack against the wall the south-easter doesn’t reach, off the ground and covered on top. Tell us where in the order notes and the driver stacks it there rather than at the gate.
Our house is up a steep flight of steps from the road. Is that a problem?
