Delivery to Melkbosstrand
The Firewood Company delivers braai wood, kaggelhout, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to Melkbosstrand, Van Riebeeckstrand and Duynefontein for R250 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–2 business days, and the driver carries the bags in and stacks them in the garage or at the braai — that is in the fee. Melkbosstrand is the top of the Western Seaboard route: north of here, Yzerfontein, Darling and Langebaan are on our fortnightly West Coast route with its own fee and minimum.
Delivery fee: R250 to any Melkbosstrand address on any size order — the same fee as Table View, even though you are the far end of the run. No minimum.
Delivery days: Monday to Friday. Most Melkbos orders arrive within 1–2 business days; in the December rush and the coldest weeks of winter allow 2–4. Checkout shows the current turnaround before you pay.
Cut-off: Thursday 15:00 for Friday’s Western Seaboard run. Later than that, WhatsApp us — if the Friday truck has room you are on it, and if not we say so rather than promise.
Carry-in and stacking: in the fee. If you would rather have the wood loose in a store than in bags, unbagging is R10 a bag at checkout.
Access: quiet streets with a driveway at most houses, so the truck parks at the gate; say whether the bags go to the garage, the braai or a wood store. For a holiday house that stands empty in the week, tell us who has the key or where the store is.
Storing it here: the sea wind at Melkbos gets into an open carport within weeks. Keep the bags in the garage, off the floor and covered on top, and order for a fortnight rather than a season.
The village at the top of the bay
Melkbosstrand sits where the Western Seaboard runs out — the last village before the coast goes quiet towards the West Coast, with the sea on one side, the dunes and the fynbos on the other, and Table Mountain a long way back across the bay. It is quieter than Blouberg and further from the shops than it looks, and it has two kinds of household: the year-round families in the older streets behind the beach, many of them with a fireplace for the wet weeks of July as well as a braai, and the weekend and holiday houses that fill on a Friday afternoon and want a fire going by dark. Van Riebeeckstrand and Duynefontein carry the same pattern up the coast.
The weather is the story here, as it is all along this shore. The south-easter comes up the coast in summer and the north-wester comes off the sea in winter, and neither is kind to a woodpile: a bag left on the stoep since March is not the bag you paid for by June. That is why the sensible Melkbos order is a fortnight’s worth kept in the garage — rooikrans and charcoal for the braai, a few bloekom for the hearth — and then another fortnight’s worth, rather than a season’s stack in the open. The truck comes up the R27 from Parow, past Blouberg, in about half an hour.
What Melkbosstrand orders
Rooikrans Bulk Bag — R80 — the coast’s braai wood. Lights easily, coals fast, and a bag covers a weeknight braai for the family. Seasoned and stored under cover; sold outside the Dry Guarantee.
Blue Gum / Bloekom Seasoned ±20kg — R109 — the fireplace wood for the older Melkbos houses that kept their hearth. Lights first time and burns long and even through a wet winter evening.
Namib Charcoal 5kg — R55 — one bag, one braai, no open flame to manage when the wind is up. The holiday-house standby.

Melkbosstrand firewood delivery — FAQ
How much is firewood delivery to Melkbosstrand?
R250 flat per drop, the same as the rest of the Western Seaboard, and the same for Van Riebeeckstrand and Duynefontein. One bag or twenty, the fee does not move. Checkout shows it before you pay.
Is Melkbosstrand on the weekly run or the West Coast route?
The weekly run. Melkbosstrand is the top of the Western Seaboard route, Monday to Friday at R250 with no minimum. The fortnightly West Coast route, with its R350 fee and R2,000 minimum, starts north of you at Yzerfontein.
Can you deliver to a holiday house when we are not there?
Yes, if someone can let the driver in or there is somewhere to leave it — a garage you leave open, a wood store, or a neighbour with a key. Put it in the order notes and the driver stacks the bags there. If the wood has to go inside a locked house, order for the Friday you arrive.
Which wood for a braai in the wind at Melkbos?
Charcoal or briquettes in a kettle with the lid down when it is really blowing. If it has to be wood, rooikrans for a quick weeknight fire and kameeldoring for a long afternoon — dense enough not to blow away as sparks — with the house or a wall at the fire’s back.
Is the wood dry when it arrives?
Yes. Every bag is seasoned and kept under cover at our Parow yard until it goes on the truck, so it lights properly and burns hot instead of hissing. That is the Dry Guarantee we have stood behind for 25 years: if a bag disappoints, tell us and we make it right. Keep it in the garage and the sea air never gets a say. Read the Dry Guarantee.
Do you deliver to Van Riebeeckstrand and Duynefontein?
Yes — both are on the Melkbosstrand end of the Western Seaboard run at R250. Checkout confirms the fee from your postcode before you pay; if it looks wrong for where you are, WhatsApp us the address.
Do you deliver to Melkbosstrand on a Saturday?
No — the Western Seaboard run is Monday to Friday. Order by Thursday 15:00 and Friday’s truck has the wood stacked before the weekend. The factory shop at 35 Tredoux Street, Parow is open Saturdays 08:00–12:45 for collection.
Do you supply the restaurants and guest houses in Melkbos?
Yes. Restaurant-grade lump charcoal, briquettes, kameeldoring and firewood in quantity, on a standing order that runs with the Western Seaboard run days, delivered to the kitchen door. LP gas through our sister company Help U Gas. WhatsApp us for trade pricing.
Order for the next Western Seaboard run
Order by Thursday 15:00 and Friday’s truck comes up the coast with your bags — carried in and stacked in the garage, out of the wind.
