Delivery to Edgemead, Bothasig & Richwood

The Firewood Company delivers kaggelhout, braai wood, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to Edgemead, Bothasig and Richwood for R250 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–2 business days, and the driver carries the bags in and stacks them at the braai, in the garage or at the fireplace — that is in the fee. Our yard is in Parow, so this is one of the shortest legs on the whole map.

Delivery fee: R250 flat to any Edgemead, Bothasig or Richwood address on any size order. No minimum.

Delivery days: Monday to Friday. Most orders here arrive within 1–2 business days; in the December rush and the coldest weeks of winter allow 2–4. Checkout shows the current turnaround before you pay.

Cut-off: Thursday 15:00 for Friday’s run. Being this close to the yard, a late order stands a better chance than most of getting on — WhatsApp us and we tell you straight.

Carry-in and stacking: in the fee. If you would rather have the wood loose in a store than in bags, unbagging is R10 a bag at checkout.

Richwood estates: much of Richwood and the newer streets of Edgemead are behind a boom. Put the estate name, the street and the visitor procedure in the order notes and the driver goes straight in rather than sitting at the gate phoning you.

Collect instead: you are ten minutes from the factory shop at 35 Tredoux Street, Parow — open Monday to Friday 08:00–16:30 and Saturdays 08:00–12:45. A bag or two on the way home costs no delivery fee at all; a boot full is when the R250 starts to earn its keep.

Between the N7 and the yard

Edgemead, Bothasig and Richwood sit between the N7 and the Bothasig side of Milnerton, close enough to our Parow yard that this is one of the shortest legs we drive. Bothasig is the oldest of the three — solid 1960s and 70s family houses on big plots, most with a built-in braai on the stoep and a good many with a fireplace in the lounge that gets lit from May. Edgemead came next, leafier and a little larger, with the same pattern of braai plus hearth. Richwood is the newest, a spread of estates and complexes behind booms where the braai is built in but the fireplace, if there is one, is usually a closed-combustion unit.

So the order here is the balanced one: rooikrans and Namib charcoal for the weeknight and weekend braai through summer, kameeldoring when the whole street is coming over, and from autumn a stack of bloekom or blackwattle for the lounge — a dozen bags at a time into the garage, because the garage is right there and the delivery fee is fixed. It is also the part of town where a bag or two on the way home from work is easy: the factory shop in Parow is ten minutes away and open Saturday mornings, and plenty of Edgemead and Bothasig households mix the two, collecting the odd bag and ordering the winter load delivered and stacked.

Why is the fee R250 when you are so close?

Because the fee is set by delivery zone rather than by the kilometre, and these three suburbs fall in the same zone as Milnerton and Table View. The upside is that it is flat: order twelve bags and the fee per bag is small. Or collect a bag or two from the factory shop in Parow, ten minutes away, and pay no fee at all.

Can you deliver into a Richwood estate?

Yes. Put the estate name, the street and the visitor-registration detail in the order notes, and the driver goes through the boom and stacks the bags at the braai or in the garage without a phone call.

Which wood for the fireplaces in the older Bothasig and Edgemead houses?

Bloekom for an open hearth — it lights easily and burns long and even. Blackwattle if you have a closed-combustion unit that has to hold heat overnight. Heat Logs if you want no bark and less ash. Store it in the garage, off the floor.

Is the wood dry when it arrives?
