The Firewood Company delivers kaggelhout, braai wood, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to Bellville, Welgemoed, Welgedacht, Loevenstein, Boston and Oakdale for R200 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–2 business days, with Saturdays on request, and the driver carries the bags to the wood store and stacks them as part of the fee.

Delivery fee: R200 to any Bellville or Welgemoed address on any size order — the yard is in Parow, so this is a short hop for the truck. No minimum.

Delivery days: Monday to Friday, and Saturdays on request when there is enough demand. Being this close to the yard, most Bellville orders arrive within 1–2 business days; in the coldest weeks of July allow 2–4. Checkout shows the current turnaround before you pay.

Saturdays: not a fixed run — when enough Northern Suburbs orders line up for a Saturday, the truck goes. Ask on WhatsApp, or collect from the Parow shop on a Saturday morning.

Carry-in and stacking: in the fee, top or bottom of the driveway. If you want the bags emptied into a wood store, unbagging is R10 a bag at checkout.

Access: Welgemoed driveways are long and some of them climb. Tell us whether the wood store is at the top or the bottom and the driver parks accordingly.

Two kinds of Bellville house, two kinds of wood

Bellville has two kinds of house, and they want different wood. South of Durban Road, in Boston and Oakdale, the houses were built long before open-plan, around a brick hearth with a narrow throat and a good draw — a fireplace that gets lit most winter nights and rewards a full-length piece of bloekom with a slow, quiet burn. North of it the ground rises. Welgemoed, Welgedacht and Loevenstein climb toward the Tygerberg on plots big enough for a wood store, a boma and a closed-combustion unit under the same roof, with driveways long enough that “by the front door” and “by the braai” are two different instructions for the driver. The nature reserve above Welgemoed gives the July wind a clear run at the ridge houses, and those are the homes that burn hardwood rather than a mix. Jip de Jager Drive and Durban Road are the truck’s spine here, and the yard in Parow is close enough that a Bellville drop is a short hop rather than a route.

What we’d put on the truck for a Boston house: bloekom and a bag of pine kindling. For a Welgemoed house: blackwattle for the closed-combustion unit, kameeldoring for the braai, chunky Namibian hardwood for the boma, and bloekom for the nights nobody is entertaining.

Which wood is best for an older Bellville brick fireplace?

Bloekom. It lights readily, burns evenly and suits a hearth with a narrow throat. If the fireplace is a closed-combustion unit, bloekom or blackwattle is what we recommend — steady, even heat without pushing the unit past what it was built for.

Our Welgemoed driveway is long and steep. Do you carry the bags up?

Yes — the delivery fee includes carrying the bags to your wood store, garage or braai and stacking them there, within 50 m of where the truck offloads. Put the distance and any steps in the order notes so the driver parks in the right place the first time; anything further than 50 m we arrange beforehand, and it may carry a small surcharge for the extra time.

Do you deliver to Bellville on Saturdays?

On request. The Northern Suburbs route runs Monday to Friday, and Saturday deliveries are on request when there is enough demand on the day, so ask us on WhatsApp. Weekday orders typically arrive within 1–2 business days.

You are in Parow — can I just collect in Bellville instead of paying delivery?

Yes. The factory shop at 35 Tredoux Street, Parow is a few minutes from Bellville, open Monday to Friday 08:00–16:30 and Saturdays 08:00–12:45. Bring the bakkie. For a full winter stack, though, R200 to have it carried to the wood store is usually the better deal than three trips.

Do you deliver to Welgedacht and the Tygerberg-side estates?

Yes — Welgedacht, Welgemoed, Loevenstein and the estates under the nature reserve are all in the R200 Northern Suburbs zone, along with Boston, Oakdale and central Bellville. Checkout confirms the fee from your postcode before you pay.

Can you deliver to a flat or townhouse complex in Bellville?

Yes. Give us the complex name, the unit number and the visitor procedure in the order notes, and the driver brings the bags to the door. Complexes near the Bellville CBD and along Durban Road usually take a few bags at a time — there is no minimum order.
