Pine Kindling: common questions
Can I use pine kindling in a closed-combustion fireplace?
No. It is recycled pine, for open fires and braais only. For a closed unit, use the untreated Kindling / Starters (Premium).
Pine or hardwood kindling: which is better?
Pine for everyday fires: it catches from one firelighter. For a potjie, or dense hardwood on a damp evening, hardwood kindling (Kindling / Potjie) is the stronger stick.
Does pine kindling need firelighters?
One firelighter under a handful is enough: the resin catches from it, with no cardboard or fluid needed. Keep a box of firelighters with the bag.
How big is a bag of pine kindling?
A small bag. Premium kindling comes in a medium bag, and Kindling / Potjie in a 5kg bag.
