Potjiekos is about control, and control comes from small pieces of dense wood. That’s this bag: Namibian hardwood cut small, so you can feed the fire under a potjie stick by stick and hold a long, gentle simmer without the spikes a big log gives you.

The same density makes it the best kindling in our range. It catches from a firelighter and keeps burning long enough to get a bag of kameeldoring going, which pine kindling can struggle with on a damp evening. One bag by the fireplace, one by the braai. Harvested under permit from dead wood, dry-fumigated and brought in from Namibia.
