Premium Anthracite is anthracite coal in a 10kg bag, graded and sized for steady airflow through an anthracite stove, a coal heater or a multi-fuel stove built to burn coal. It's a stove fuel, not a braai fuel, and The Firewood Company delivers it from Parow across Cape Town, the Winelands and the West Coast.

How to store it
The 10kg bag carries our Dry Guarantee and stacks in a garage or a store room. Keep it dry and off the floor until it goes into the stove.

Can I burn anthracite in an open fireplace or on a braai?
No. Anthracite is for stoves built to burn it. For an open fireplace use Blue Gum; for a braai, charcoal or briquettes.
Which stoves can burn anthracite coal?
Anthracite stoves, coal heaters and multi-fuel stoves built to burn coal. If you are not sure your stove takes coal, check its manual first.
How do I light anthracite?
On a bed of untreated kindling and firelighters, with the vents open. Once it catches, close the vents down for the long, quiet burn.
Is anthracite the same as charcoal?
No. Anthracite is a coal, graded for stoves built to burn it. Our charcoal and briquettes are Namibian hardwood charcoal, for the braai and the Weber.
