Delivery to Wellington
The Firewood Company delivers kaggelhout, braai wood, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to Wellington, Onverwacht and Van Wyksvlei, and to the farms and smallholdings on the Bainskloof and Bovlei roads, for R300 per drop. Wellington is the top of our Winelands round, so allow 1–3 business days, and the driver carries the bags in and stacks them where you say — that is in the fee.
Delivery fee: R300 flat to any Wellington address, whatever the size of the order. It is the same fee as Paarl even though you are a few kilometres further up the valley. No minimum order.
Delivery days: Monday to Friday. Wellington is the last stop on the Winelands round, so allow 1–3 business days, and 2–4 in the weeks of July when the whole Boland is lighting fires at once. Checkout shows the live turnaround before you pay.
Cut-off: Thursday 15:00 for Friday’s Winelands run. After that the honest answer is usually the next run — a WhatsApp costs nothing, but plan on it.
Carry-in and stacking: in the fee. If you would rather have the wood loose in a store than in bags, unbagging is R10 a bag at checkout.
Farms and smallholdings: if the gate is off the R301 or the Bainskloof road, put the farm name, the gate and a phone number in the order notes. The driver would rather phone from the gate than guess a turn-off between two rows of vines.
The fee versus the fuel: at R300 a drop, one big winter order beats three small ones. Fifteen or twenty bags of kaggelhout in April, stacked in the store, sees most Wellington houses to September.
The far end of the valley
Wellington sits at the top of the Berg River valley with the Hawequa mountains at its back and the Bainskloof Pass climbing out of town behind it, and it gets the winter that goes with that: cold, still mornings with frost on the vines, then the north-wester with rain that sets in for three days at a time. It is a brandy and wine town, a dried-fruit town, a town of old Victorian houses along Church Street and the streets around the Huguenot campus that were built with a fireplace in every front room — and most of those fireplaces still get lit. Onverwacht and Van Wyksvlei added newer family houses with a built-in braai and, often enough, a closed-combustion stove for July.
So the Wellington order runs opposite to the coast. Here it is kaggelhout first — bloekom and blackwattle by the dozen bags from April — with braai wood and charcoal for the long summer evenings when the valley finally cools down after dark. The farms and guest houses on the Bainskloof and Bovlei roads take the same thing in larger quantities. The truck comes out on the N1 from Parow, turns off at Paarl and works up the R301, about an hour and a quarter door to door, which is why the run is planned and the cut-off matters.
What Wellington orders
Blue Gum / Bloekom Seasoned ±20kg — R109 — the Wellington fireplace wood. Lights first time, burns long and even, and a stack of it in the store is the difference between a warm front room and a cold one in July.
Blackwattle ±20kg — R109 — denser than bloekom, slower to burn, and the wood we recommend for a closed-combustion stove that has to hold heat overnight.
Kameeldoring ±18kg — R120 — Namibian hardwood for the braai on a summer evening in the valley — a deep bed of coals that outlasts the second round of chops.

Wellington firewood delivery — FAQ
How much is firewood delivery to Wellington?
R300 flat per drop, the same as Paarl and the rest of the Winelands round, and the same for one bag or thirty. Checkout shows it before you pay. With the fee fixed, the cheapest way to buy wood in Wellington is one big order a season.
How long does delivery to Wellington take?
Usually 1–3 business days — Wellington is the top of the Winelands round, so it depends where the week’s route is. In the coldest weeks of July allow 2–4. Checkout shows the live turnaround before you pay, and it changes as demand changes.
Do you deliver to the farms on the Bainskloof and Bovlei roads?
Yes. Put the farm name, which gate and a phone number in the order notes so the driver does not have to guess a turn-off. If it is a guest house or a venue, tell us where the wood store is and we stack it there.
Which wood for a Wellington winter?
Bloekom for an open fireplace — it lights easily and burns long and even. Blackwattle for a closed-combustion stove that has to hold heat through the night. Heat Logs if you want no bark, little ash and a very steady burn. Order for the season in April; the store does the rest.
Is the wood dry when it arrives?
Yes. Every bag is seasoned and kept under cover at our Parow yard until it goes on the truck, so it lights properly and burns hot instead of hissing. That is the Dry Guarantee we have stood behind for 25 years: if a bag disappoints, tell us and we make it right. Read the Dry Guarantee.
How much wood does a Wellington house burn in winter?
It depends on the fireplace and how often it is lit: an open hearth burning most evenings from May to August gets through several bags of bloekom a week, a closed stove far fewer, and a weekends-only house fewer still. Use the calculator to work out your own number before you order.
Do you deliver to Wellington on a Saturday?
No — the Winelands round runs Monday to Friday. Order by Thursday 15:00 to be on Friday’s run. The factory shop at 35 Tredoux Street, Parow is open Saturdays 08:00–12:45 if you are coming through to town and want to collect.
Do you supply the guest houses, wine farms and restaurants around Wellington?
Yes. Kaggelhout and Namibian hardwood in quantity, restaurant-grade lump charcoal and briquettes for the kitchens that use them, on a standing order that runs with the Winelands round. LP gas through our sister company Help U Gas. WhatsApp us for trade pricing.
