Delivery to the Western Seaboard
The Firewood Company delivers braai wood, charcoal and Namibian hardwood to Bloubergstrand, Big Bay, Table View, Parklands, Sunningdale, Milnerton, Century City and Melkbosstrand for R250 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–2 business days. North of Melkbosstrand is the separate West Coast route.
Delivery fee: R250 flat across the whole Western Seaboard.
Delivery days: Monday to Friday. Typical turnaround is 1–2 business days; in peak winter weeks it can stretch to 2–4. The turnaround for your order is shown at checkout before you pay, and we update it as demand changes.
Cut-off: order by Thursday 15:00 to be on the Friday run. Orders after that can sometimes be squeezed onto Friday morning’s trucks if there’s space — ask, don’t count on it.
Offloading and stacking the bags: included. We carry them to your wood store, garage or braai and stack them neatly where you want them — put it in the order notes and it’s handled. Unbagging — emptying the bags onto your pile — is R10 a bag, added at checkout.
Estates and complexes: most of this region is behind a boom. Put the estate name, the street and any access code or visitor-registration detail in the order notes and the driver goes straight in rather than sitting at a gate phoning you.
Minimum order: none — order what you need.
Storing it on this coast — one practical note. Salt air and wind will undo good wood faster here than anywhere else we deliver. Keep it off bare ground, keep it covered on top, and leave the sides open so air moves through it. Wood that is dry when it arrives stays dry under a carport; wood sealed under a plastic sheet against a wall will sweat and go off. If you have nowhere covered, order smaller and more often — that costs a delivery fee and saves a whole load.

What the Western Seaboard orders
The wind decides everything on this side of the bay.
From roughly October the south-easter comes across the bay hard enough that Big Bay is full of kitesurfers and every braai in Table View is built into a corner, behind a wall, or under a roof. It is the one region where people ask us about wind before they ask about wood. The honest answer is that an open fire in a gale is a losing argument — a kettle with the lid on, or a built-in with a wall behind it, is what works. So the summer order here skews to charcoal and briquettes in a way it does not in the Southern Suburbs.
The housing does the rest. This is a young, fast-built part of Cape Town, and the houses that went up across Parklands, Sunningdale and Blouberg Rise over the last twenty years were built with a braai rather than a fireplace. So what we’d send a Parklands house is the reverse of what we’d send Constantia: braai wood and charcoal over summer and every long weekend, and a smaller winter order for the older Milnerton and Melkbos houses that do have a hearth.
Melkbosstrand runs its own way again — quieter, further from the shops, and the wind off the sea means wood needs to be stored properly or not at all.
Rooikrans Bulk Bag — R80 — the wood the Cape grew up braaiing on. Easy to light, hot, quick to coal, and it does not sulk. The default weeknight braai wood on this coast.
Namib Briquettes 4kg — R60 — steady, uniform, and they hold temperature for longer than lump. The right call for a windy Saturday, a whole chicken, or anything low and slow.

25 years, and the bay in between
We deliver out of Parow, which puts our yard about twenty minutes from Table View with the bay on your left the whole way in.
We have been running that road since 2001. It has gone from a handful of houses at Blouberg and a lot of open sand to one of the busiest parts of Cape Town, and the braais went up with it. What has not changed is what we do when we get there: unload it, stack it where you asked, and go — properly seasoned wood, stored under cover, that lights first time.

What should I braai on when the south-easter is up?
Charcoal or briquettes in a kettle with the lid on, rather than an open wood fire. Briquettes hold a steadier temperature for longer; lump charcoal lights faster and sears harder. Build the fire with a wall or the house at its back, not in the open.
Can you deliver into an estate or a complex?
Yes. Put the estate name and any access or visitor-registration detail in the order notes so the driver goes straight through the boom.
