Delivery to Gardens & Oranjezicht
The Firewood Company delivers kaggelhout, short pieces, Namibian hardwood and charcoal to Gardens, Oranjezicht and the streets between Kloof Street and Upper Orange Street for R350 per drop. Deliveries run Monday to Friday, typically within 1–2 business days. Offloading and stacking the bags included.
Delivery fee: R350 flat, whatever you order. No minimum.
Delivery days: Monday to Friday. Typical turnaround is 1–2 business days; in peak winter weeks it can stretch to 2–4. The turnaround for your order is shown at checkout before you pay, and we update it as demand changes.
Cut-off: order by Thursday 15:00 to be on Friday’s run. After that, ask — there is sometimes space on a Friday morning truck, but don’t count on it.
Offloading and stacking the bags: included. Unbagging is R10 a bag, added at checkout.
Access: the one-ways off Kloof Street and Upper Orange Street give a truck one attempt and nowhere to park once it stops, so we send the smaller truck to Gardens as standard. Tell us in the order notes whether the front door is up steps from the pavement.
Gardens & Oranjezicht: the local paragraph
Gardens and Oranjezicht sit on the lowest slope of Table Mountain, running uphill from the Company’s Garden to the Molteno Reservoir, and the houses are the oldest we deliver to. Victorian and Edwardian terraces with a broekie-lace stoep at the front and a cast-iron grate in the front room, put there in 1900 to be used every night and still doing it. The mountain stands to the south of these streets, so the winter sun comes in low from the north over the harbour, and what takes it away is Lion’s Head and Signal Hill to the west: by mid-afternoon in June the shadow has crossed Kloof Street and the grate is lit. When the tablecloth is on the mountain the south-easter comes down Upper Orange Street with it, which is when a properly dry bag matters more than a big one. Along Kloof Street and lower Gardens the flats are a different order altogether — a small hearth or a closed-combustion unit, and nowhere to keep more than a week of wood. After Rondebosch and Newlands, no part of Cape Town has bought more firewood from us than the City Bowl, and most of that is an old house on this hill being fed a bag at a time.
What we’d put on the truck for a Gardens house: four bloekom for the grate, two short pieces if the fireplace is a small one, a bag of kindling, stacked in the passage or the courtyard.

Our street is a one-way with no parking. Can you still deliver?
Yes. Most of Gardens is like that. We send the smaller truck, and if you tell us in the order notes whether we can stop outside and whether the door is up steps from the pavement, the driver carries the bags in and stacks them where you want them.
Do you deliver to Gardens on Saturdays?
No — the City Bowl run is Monday to Friday. Order by Thursday 15:00 and you’re on Friday’s truck. The factory shop at 35 Tredoux Street, Parow is open for collection on Saturdays 08:00–12:45.
