Blackwattle – 500 pieces

Loose blackwattle is the volume buy for the household that braais as well as burns, and has the wood store to hold it. Dense local hardwood, harvested in the Western Cape from invasive alien clearing, by the piece: 250 (R550), 500 (R1,100) or 1,000 (R2,000). October to March only.

Blackwattle is denser, burns hotter and leaves better cooking coals; blue gum is the cheaper nightly fireplace wood — the choice comes down to whether the pile is feeding a grid or only a hearth. Loose wood is sold as-is for buyers with covered storage; it carries no Dry Guarantee. Stack it under a roof with air through it and let it finish drying on your side.
