BLUE GUM / BLOEKOM is a hard local kaggel / fireplace wood. Due to its density it has a tendency to burn longer than blackwattle. It is one of the best woods to use in your Closed combustion stoves / Glass Fronted Fireplaces & Pizza Ovens.
BLACKWATTLE is mostly used for open Fireplaces. It ignites fairly easily and leaves some residual heat due to its coals. It is also known as “kuierhout” and is often used for atmosphere fires like a braai or a fire pit.
